Colette Scott, MEd, is a Senior Program Manager at Policy Research Associates, Inc. (PRA) in Delmar, NY. She coordinates training development and technical assistance for the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) VALOR CIT implementation program and PRA's work on the BJA Academic-based Training Initiative to Improve Police Responses for People with Mental Illness and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities project with the University of Cincinnati. Her responsibilities include project coordination, curriculum development, training program planning, and developing and delivering training. She provides technical assistance support as a trainer for the SAMHSA's GAINS Center’s Trauma-Informed Responses for Criminal Justice System for criminal justice professionals. For over two decades, Ms. Scott has focused her career on leadership development, instructional design, innovation, and project management. Her experience includes work with not-for-profit and educational organizations such as the State University of New York at Buffalo, Woman Organized Against Rape, Philadelphia University, the National Board of Medical Examiners, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, and medical schools around the world. Ms. Scott received her master’s degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology and her bachelor’s degree in Human Service Administration from SUNY at Buffalo.
Ms. Scott has been in recovery for ten years and is a fierce advocate for those living with mental illness and substance use disorders, and the family members who support them. Ms. Scott is a member of the Bethlehem Democratic Committee, active in her church community and enjoys card making, scrapbooking, bible journaling, and playing with her dog Franklin.
