LEARNING ACADEMIES FOR CONFERENCE ATTENDEES
LEARNING ACADEMY I - Starting or Improving your CIT Program FREE WHEN: Tuesday, August 14, 2018 ~~ 8 am - 12 Noon This half day workshop is designed for communities investing in starting a Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) program or reinvesting as to a second look; an up-close and personal review of the CIT Core Elements. Learn from the master and originator of the Memphis Model, Major (retired) Sam Cochran and other long standing CIT Colleagues as they outline the Core Elements necessary in planning, developing, implementing and sustaining the CIT Model. This team will also help your community identify its readiness for starting a CIT program, pitfalls to avoid and creating a strategic plan for you to take home. This series will be highly interactive with the audience. LEARNING ACADEMY II - Building Resiliency: Surviving Secondary Trauma FREE Seating limited to 100 WHEN: Tuesday, August 14, 2018 ~~ 8 am - 12 Noon OR WHEN: Saturday, August 18, 2018 ~~ 8 am - 12 Noon Did you know that for every police officer that commits suicide, there are a thousands more out there, still working and suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress or struggling with other problems brought on by the job--anxiety, depression, alcoholism, marital problems, and more. Building Resiliency: Surviving Secondary Trauma is a four hour course that is designed for all first responders and mental health professionals and will provide important information to attendees regarding recognizing Stress and Secondary Trauma; the physical and emotional effects they have on your body, and most importantly, developing easy and effective coping skills to help build resiliency for both self and peer support. LEARNING ACADEMY III - LEARN TO PAUSE: Mindfulness and Meditation for our CIT Partnership FREE Seating limited to 100 WHEN: Tuesday, August 14, 2018 ~~ 1 pm - 5 pm OR WHEN: Saturday, August 18, 2018 ~~ 1 pm - 5 pm LEARN TO PAUSE: Mindfulness and Meditation, for our CIT Partnership, is a course designed to teach the evidence-based benefits of mindfulness and meditation, and discover how to use these powerful tools to mitigate stress, regulate emotions, and improve overall health. This 4 hour course is designed specifically for First Responders by the spouse of a retired First Responder; however, all attendees are welcome and will experience, first hand, the positive effects of mindfulness and meditation.
