Joyce Campbell

Board Member - Ohio


Joyce recently retired after serving as a municipal court judge in the City of Fairfield, Ohio for over 25 years. She presided over both a certified mental health and a drug court docket. Joyce is a member of numerous professional associations and has bar admissions in the States of Ohio and Kentucky, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Northern Districts of Ohio, and the United States Supreme Court.

Joyce developed an innovative mental health docket in 2000 that includes  a NAMI representative present at each weekly hearing to assist those with a mental  health/substance abuse issue and their families who are involved with the criminal justice system. She has worked via various leadership positions to encourage the implementation of a specialized docket for individuals with MH/SA issues involved in the criminal justice system throughout the country. 

 Joyce is the Immediate Past President of the NAMI National Board of Directors and the NAMI Ohio Board of Directors. She is the Past  Chair of the Ohio Judicial Conference ( representing all of Ohio judges) ,  and a former member of the Ohio Supreme Court Commission on Special Dockets, the Ohio Judicial College  and the Ohio Suicide  Prevention Foundation. She currently serves on the Butler County Mental Health and Addiction Recovery Services Board. Joyce earned a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from Case Western Reserve University and a J.D. from the CWRU School of Law.
